Tolleshunt D'Arcy is a village and civil parish[1] in the county of Essex in the East of England.
The Parish has a Parish council, and lies within the area of Maldon District Council.[1]
Margery Allingham the crime writer lived with her husband at D'Arcy House in the centre of the village from 1935 until her death in 1966. Her memoir "The Oaken Heart" (1941) was based on life in the village during the war.[2]
In 1985, Jeremy Bamber shot dead his adoptive parents, his sister and her twin children at the family farmhouse about one kilometre from the centre of the village. He received life tariff for this, but protests his innocence.
From 1904 to 1951 the village was served by the Kelvedon and Tollesbury Light Railway, with a small station to the north of the village.
